Portland Class Schedule
I
have a great classroom in the Tigard area which I can
reserve for classes, or classes can be held in homes (if
there's enough room for each student to have a computer
around a table).
I prefer to schedule classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, and
Fridays -- but I can also be available for other days
with some advance notice.

my Hood River office. I can handle 4 to six students
in a class. If you are interested, drop me an email
and let's work out what time will work best for you
and some of your friends.

Spreadsheets are fantastic tools for home and for work,
if you know how to use them. We will show how to move
around and work in a spreadsheet. Then you'll learn how
build and sort an address list, develop a budget, and
set up a simple checkbook register which will automatically
keep your checkbook balanced. You will also learn how
to take your address list and generate personalized "form"
letters or mailing labels.

PUBLISHER:
Publisher is a fantastic program for building flyers,
newsletters, business cards, brochures, and much more.

Which Software to Consider
|
Works
vs Microsoft Office
PC owners can not go wrong with Microsoft Office. If you click
on this link to Microsoft
Office you can view the various combinations of software
available: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
You can order it online, often it is a choice for new computers,
or you can purchase it from places like Costco (for possibly
less). The Office applications work with Windows and Vista.

Photo programs?
Some of you might already have a photo program on your computer
like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements... and that's great.
Photoshop Elements
Rather than messing around with cheaper or more expensive
photo programs for your PCs, I'm recommending that you purchase
Photoshop Elements. It's a great little program and will serve
your photo needs wonderfully for years to come. You should
be able to the the program for ~$99. Costco and other stores
sometimes have it cheaper. Works with Windows and Vista.

MAC
USERS
I won't get into the debate on which computer I prefer because
I truly love both. When it comes to the basic applications
like word processing and spreadsheet work, they both function
somewhat alike.
All classes here focus on using software on a PC, but MAC
users will learn lot of tips and tricks that they can also
make use of.
If MAC users would like to plan a session together where you
can all learn from what each of you have "discovered"
- drop me an email. Also, there a quality of online help available
for MACs - wonderful tutorials, how-to videos, etc.

BUILDING
A WEBSITE:
Do you want to have a website - perhaps for a family reunion
coming up, or for an organization you're helping with, or
just for you to advertise what you do? It is simple and affordable
to do!! For less than $50/yr you can get a domain name and
host your website. My favorite hosting company is Doteasy.com
and they have many templates for you to pick from (so you
don't have to pay big bucks for a web-designer). Check out
this SAMPLE
of a Doteasy website. This class will walk you through each
step and get you familiar with the various features.
Requires that your domain name is setup before the class begins.
Contact me if this class appeals to you.
